Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips with commentary that analyze the representations of women that are prevalent in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Interested in issues concerning gender identities and feminisms from an early age she launched her own website Feminist Frequency in 2009 while she was still at university. A woman with ambitions to start a web-series examining the gender-based representation in video games was targeted by an internet-based campaign. This attack didn't stop her, rather it strengthened her determination as feminist media critic. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades for her numerous prominent contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational non-profit that examines the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
